Light: London, England

The Great Court of the British Museum is the largest covered square in Europe.

The sun shines through the skylight casting patterned shadows onto the stone  interior.

“They ask the sun to expound the words of the shadow, and the True One to explain the utterances of His creatures, could ye but perceive it! Say: O people! The sun offereth naught save the effulgence of its own light and that which appeareth therefrom, whilst all else seek illumination from its rays.”
Baha’u’llah, The Summons of the Lord of Hosts.

I love this shot! The patterns, and the quote. It’s so interesting to find inner meaning embedded in many layers of outer forms. For example here, the shadows could not be seen without the light of the sun. Makes me think about my life and everything I consider ‘shadows.’ And then I wonder why I focus at all on those dark parts, when it’s the light making all of this visible in the first place… hmm… I guess I just need to do more turning towards the light. Hey, many of the other quotes this month point to that, no? :-)

It is amazing to see so much beauty in the world. Thanks for capturing it.

    Thanks to both of you!

Alisa: Without the light, we can never discern the darkness. In this case, the interplay between light and shadows creates a rich tapestry analogous to crisis and victory, or joy and pain. Both balance the other. Ultimately, the light is the true force for change.

Sarah: If you ever get the chance to visit London, make sure you visit the British Museum. The architecture is one thing, the exhibits another!

Thanks! As soon as I saw this picture, I put it on my list if I am ever in the area.
